Ni’Asia Griffin and Hayden Hicks share materials and ideas while designing their cards.

The Midlothian High School Library teamed up with Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center to send Valentines to America’s veterans. Midlo students and staff gathered in the library on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, to write thanks in the form of Valentine’s Day cards to those who have bravely served our country.  McGuire VA Hospital treats injured and disabled veterans who hurt during their service.

The librarians set up various craft materials, such as: stickers, markers, glitter, pens, and colorful construction paper, and provided snacks and drinks for an enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere. Love songs played in the background, while students sang along and wrote personalized letters tp our nation’s heroes. Of the experience, junior Ryan Maher commented, “I wanted to do something to show my appreciation for veterans.”.

Thanks to all who came out to join in thanking our veterans. Stay tuned for Midlo’s next library event.
