Nearing a New Chapter

Class of 2017 Senior Day Lunch and Pool Party.

Adrienne Preston, Isobel Harrison, Mukti Patel, Mariha Junaid, Charles Miller, Mac Cartier, and Evan Arents spend quality time on Senior Day.

On June 1, 2017, the Class of 2017  left the senior day ceremony feeling inspired and unified after viewing an unbelievable senior video produced by Alexa Battle, that encompassed the journey students faced over the past 4 years at Midlothian High School.  After the much-anticipated senior class photo, students changed out of their graduation gowns, put on a comfortable change of clothes, and ventured to the bus loop for a final senior lunch.

Students boarded the food truck provided by Brock’s Bar-B-Que Restaurant and Catering and loaded up their plates with pulled-pork sandwiches, fried chicken, and macaroni and cheese.  The overwhelming emotions became present as students exchanged yearbooks, leaving signatures and warm messages to their fellow classmates. Some students sat at picnic tables reminiscing of the fond memories they created over the years, while others sat on car hoods in the student parking lot listening to music and remembering the pop culture that helped shape them. Even more compelling, some seniors decided to spend their last lunch at Midlothian High School as students back in the school cafeteria, the place where fond memories of school lunches and lighthearted conversation came back to life as they joined their junior class friends.

After a “spectacular lunch,” as senior Kayo Kim proclaimed, many students headed to ACAC Fitness and Wellness center for a pool party. The positive vibes remained contagious, as seniors kicked back and dipped their toes in the water. Seniors experienced a bittersweet experience, as they both welcomed the arrival of summer and progression into their future endeavors, as well as acknowledged the reality of their short time left as high school students. With graduation taking place on June 7, 2017 at the Siegel Center, Midlo seniors enjoyed one final hoorah before the big day.
