The seniors on the Cross Country and Track & Field teams are recognized for their dedication to the sport of running.

After a year of unknowns, Midlo’s running program celebrated its seventeen seniors on Wednesday, May 19 at the Midlothian Dominion District Meet #2. This senior night stood to honor the seniors on the Indoor Track & Field, Cross Country and Outdoor Track & Field teams, as most of the participants compete on all three teams. Over the course of the past four years, these athletes have worked cohesively to amass countless VHSL Regional Championship titles and invitational wins, and, in 2021, the Girls Indoor Track team emerged as VHSL 5A State Champions. Led by Coach Stan Morgan, Coach Dan Ward, Coach David Benjamin, Coach Nick Davis and Coach Drew Davis, the seniors in this program have worked together to continue the legacy of the Midlothian running program in the state of Virginia.

Prior to the second Midlothian Dominion District Meet of the season, the seventeen seniors walked out to the track, escorted by their parents. Each senior was given a blue and yellow flower in a decorated vase to carry while Coach Dan Ward read a short biography about each athlete; the biography featured the athlete’s highlights of their career, favorite memories of their time on the team, involvements at Midlo and plans for the future. After each senior was recognized, the stadium erupted in applause, symbolizing the large support that these athletes have gathered over the years.

Following the conclusion of the senior ceremony, the entire Outdoor Track and Field team competed against Monacan, Manchester, and Cosby. The Trojans dominated the field, with many finishing in the top three competitors of their event. On May 26, the team will take on Monacan, Powhatan and Clover Hill at Monacan High School at 4:00.
