Midlo 2022 Track and Field Seniors

Midlo’s track and field team ran their final Dominion District Meet of the season, on May 18, 2022. At this meet held at Cosby High School, seniors from three schools were honored including Midlothian.

Before the races began, seniors from each of the three schools were celebrated. Posters hung on the fence celebrating each senior who walked out to the track and received their introduction. Each runner was handed flowers as they walked out on the field lining up next to their fellow senior teammates. This season’s seniors were Madeline DuBois, Gabriella Garcia, Armani Hinman, Jack Laser, Tucker Meredith, Nicole Quiram, Cameron Reeve, Brooks Weeks and Owen Widrick.

Madeline DuBois has been a part of both track teams for three years on junior varsity. Her favorite memory from the team was “cheering on [her] teammates and getting excited for what they were able to accomplish at the region meet for indoor track.” DuBois plans to study elementary education at James Madison University after she leaves the program.

Gabriella Garcia has been a part of Midlo’s Varsity indoor and outdoor track team since her sophomore year. She ran at Monacan as a freshman before transferring to Midlo. Garcia cherishes her memories, especially “celebrating winning the outdoor track meet last year by going to Cold Stone and doing team superlatives” because “they were so funny, and it was nice celebrating our hard work as a team.” Garcia will study kinesiology at James Madison University in the fall.

Armani Hinman has been a part of the indoor and outdoor track team for four years, all of which being on the varsity team. Hinman cherishes the moment of “qualifying by time for states in the 110 meter hurdles” because “it felt so good to know the work I was putting in paid off.” Next year he will be attending William and Mary.

Jack Laser has run for the Midlo indoor track and outdoor track team for two years. Laser’s favorite memories from his time on the team have been “hanging out on the bus ride to indoor states last season.” He looks forward to attending Christopher Newport University in the fall.

Tucker Meredith has been a part of the Junior Varsity indoor track and outdoor track team for three years. His favorite memory is having his teammates “scream at [him] telling [him] [his] lap times when [he’s] running the mile.” He will take classes at John Tyler Community College in the fall.

Nicole Quiram has been part of the indoor and outdoor varsity track team for four years. One of her favorite memories was winning the indoor and outdoor state title last year and making a team superlative presentation to celebrate. She will be attending Virginia Tech in the fall to study mechanical engineering.

Cameron Reeve has been part of the indoor and outdoor track team for three years. He will miss all of the “pre-meet bus rides” because there is time to “get ready with everyone” for the meet and listen to “funny stories.” Reeve will be attending Virginia Tech to study accounting and information systems.

Brooks Weeks has run for the indoor and outdoor track team for four years. His most memorable race was the Powhatan meet during the Outdoor track season in 2021 because he set a PR, along with the rest of his teammates. As he leaves the team, he will attend Virginia Tech to major in business.

Owen Widrick has been a part of the outdoor track team for four years. His favorite memory from his time on the team was going “to states my junior year in the 4 x 800″ because “it was fun to go to the new track facility in Virginia Beach.” He will be attending James Madison University in the fall.

Congratulations, seniors!
