Tuesday, Mar. 11, art students and National Art Honor Society members gathered in the open commons to run and participate in art oriented activity stations. “We try to collaborate with our performing arts and our Visual Arts to come up with some kind of showcase to celebrate all of the Arts in Midlo,” art teacher, Mackenzie Gillespie, said.
Some of the activities at Art Beat included painting peg people, spinning art, balloon animals, face paint, weaving, ect. There were 2 slots for volunteers to participate in each activity. “My favorite part of Art Beat is all of the craft stations,” Danyelle Pham, 12, said.
Art displays were set up in the middle of the open commons presenting students’ art work throughout the school year. From ceramics to soft sculpture and painting, there was a great variety of artistry. As the night continued the show choir performed a snippet of their City Lights show in the auditorium while members of orchestra serenaded guests. Later, the Carrie cast performed A Night We’ll Never Forget.
As the night commences, volunteers from the National Art Honor Society stayed back to organize and pack up all the displayed art. Fortunately the art won’t be stowed away for long with the Fine Arts Festival being just around the corner on Mar. 22.
