Trojans basketball takes on quarterfinals

Midlo girls and boys basketball competes in the Region 5 Quarterfinals

On Monday, February 8, 2020, the boys and girls Trojan basketball teams competed in the Region 5 Quarterfinals in a double-header at home.

At 6 p.m, the Lady Trojans took the court to face the Manchester Lancers. Coming off a 7-5 record, the team hoped to dominate the 3-9 Lancers. As the clock started, senior Abbie Campbell pushed Midlo ahead with an effortless 3-pointer. Midlo continued to rack up points, and by the end of the first half maintained their lead with a score of 37-8. Although the Lancers managed to slightly close in on Midlo in the second half, Midlo held strong on defense and won 37-20. Following this victory, Midlo girls basketball will advance to the Region 5 Semifinals.

At 7:30, the Midlo boys basketball team began their game against the Prince George Royals. With a 3-7 record, the team entered the game in hopes of putting another win under their belt. The game remained close throughout the first quarter, with a score of 18-14 in Prince George’s favor. By the end of the first half, Prince George maintained their lead, 37-24. After an intense game, the Trojans gained momentum and defeated Royals 70-64, placing them in the semifinal round of the tournament.
