Foster earns top CCPS honor for new teachers

CCPS beginning teachers of the year reception

Midlothian High Assistant Principal Dr. Robert Gifford, CCPS Beginning Teacher of the Year, Ms. Hannah Foster, and Midlo Spanish teacher and mentor Mrs. JoAna Smith celebrated at the new teacher reception.

On Wednesday, May 29, four outstanding first-year Midlothian High School teachers were recognized at the CCPS Beginning Teacher of the Year awards banquet for their well deserved nominations: Hannah Foster, Nicole Johnson, Jordan Liesfeld, and Emily Pfund.

Ms. Foster and Ms. Johnson were both selected as finalists for the award, and Ms. Foster, a Midlo French teacher, was named the CCPS Beginning High School Teacher of the Year for the entire county, marking the first time a Midlothian High teacher has received this award.  Congratulations on a tremendous first year!

*Midlo Scoop caught up with Ms. Foster and asked her how she felt about this tremendous honor. She shared, “For me, it was an honor just to be nominated for the award, but it was both honoring and humbling to win.  I feel that the award is a reflection of the amazing World Language Department here at Midlothian High School.  I know that I would not have received such an accolade without the constant support, guidance, and encouragement from each member in my department.  I look forward to one day showing the same level of support to a new teacher like myself.”
