Midlo Senior Taylor Shell signs to play soccer at University of Miami on National Signing Day.

On Wednesday, November 14, 2018, Mrs. Shea Collins welcomed friends, family, and athletes in the Midlothian High School library to celebrate senior Taylor Shell, as she signed her National Letter of Intent to play Division 1 Women’s Soccer at the University of Miami (FL).

Shell has played soccer since she was three years old and has never stopped. Since the beginning, Shell has stood out on every team, always dreaming about playing collegiate soccer. Currently, Shell plays on the U19 Richmond United ECNL team, one of the best teams in the state, and is a contributing factor to the team’s success. Since committing to Miami in the spring of her sophomore year, Shell has dreamed about the day when she would officially call herself a ‘Cane.

Although pursued by several successful collegiate soccer programs, Shell chose to attend the University of Miami because “the academics, coaches, and the overall environment of the university is what swayed my decision over the other offers.” In the fall of 2019, Shell looks “forward to playing in one of the best conferences for women’s soccer (ACC) and studying exercise science/physiology.” Shell is thrilled to fulfill her childhood wish of playing the sport she loves for a little while longer.
