As a new school year begins, so do sports teams. From the latest football teams, to current dance teams, the girls JV Volleyball team gained new players. From September 9 to 13 the JV girls volleyball team took on Monacan, St. Catherine’s, and Cosby.
To start off the week, they got an enjoyable win against Monacan, with a score of 2-0. The following day, a tight match against St. Catherine brought them 0-2. To round out the week, they won the match against Cosby with the score being 2-1. These two wins have brought a strong start to the season.
“I believe we did good this week and I am excited for the rest of the season,” Julie Davis, 9, said. However, these girls didn’t just win these games, the coaches played a big part. The JV and Varsity teams practice five days a week, with the help of three main coaches. Coach Sherman Chung, the Varsity coach, has been playing volleyball since 1991, and coaching since 2010.
As this new volleyball season takes flight, their hard work and dedication pays off. With more games to come, hopes are high to achieve more wins. If you want to show your Midlo spirit, go cheer on your team!
