Girls Volleyball players commit on Signing Day

National Signing Day 2022

Tatum Evans, Brooke Eslinger, and Virginia Zalinski signed their National Letters of Intent (NLI) to play collegiate volleyball in a signing day ceremony on Nov. 9 in the Closed Commons.

Tatum Evans, a team captain, signed with Virginia Tech. A multi-position player, she has set records for the girls volleyball team for most kills in one game and the most kills in a season.

“For this year specifically, Tatum has been the glue to the team, because with so many injuries and so many people out, she has been the one that has been the standard, and as a captain, a leader, whether its on the court or leading us in matches. She also help hold people accountable that hadn’t been on the court the entire season and made them better as players,” Head Coach Sherman Chung said.

Brooke Eslinger, a first year member of the team, signed with Missouri State University

“My sister, Brooke…is the reason,  I started playing,” Maddy Eslinger, 10 said.  “Whenever we are playing together I always look up to her and try to be as good of a player as her.”

Virginia Zalinski signed with the Lynchburg University where she will play beach volleyball for the Hornets.  Jeanette McGuirk, Zalinski’s beach volleyball coach, spoke of Virginia’s character and passion for the sport.

“All three players were major contributors to our team on and off the court,” Assistant Coach Jason Newcomb said. “We couldn’t be prouder of their opportunities to continue playing in college. Going into the playoffs, we are thankful to have these leaders on the team. We couldn’t have gotten this far without them.”
