Midlo Soccer Commemorates the Class of 2019

Midlo Varsity Soccer Senior Nights

On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, the Midlothian High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team celebrated its Class of 2019 players on Senior Night, as the team faced the Manchester Lancers. The game commenced with Trojan pressure leading to goals by juniors Claire Mosher and Erin Junkmann. The Lady Trojans pulled out a 2-0 victory over the Lancers on the seniors’ last regular-season game at the Poates.

On Thursday, May 9, 2019, the Midlothian Boys Soccer Team faced a highly competitive James River Rapids squad, as they recognized the Class of 2019’s accomplishments. Throughout the intense match, both teams gained possession, but in the end, senior Bogue Cummings secured a goal in the remaining seconds of the game.

Ladies’ Soccer, Class of 2019 

Kathryn Phillips has played on Midlo’s Girls Varsity team since her freshman year and leads the team as a captain this season.  Phillips will continue her education at Virginia Tech this fall, where she will study criminology.

Bailey Honrado also has played with the Girls Varsity program since her freshman year and is in her second year as captain. This fall, Honrado will attend Virginia Tech, where she plans to major in biology.

Logan Georgel began her Varsity Soccer career as a freshman at Midlo.  Georgel plans to attend the University of Virginia to study environmental science.

Eleanor Ross has played Midlothian Soccer since freshman year, currently in her second season on Varsity. Ross will head to James Madison University this fall to major in business and digital media.

Julia Cunningham has played soccer for the Trojans during all four years of high school, playing on Varsity for two. Cunningham will attend Virginia Tech this fall, where she intends to study sociology.

Noelle Baptiste has been on the Midlothian Varsity Soccer Team for two years and in the program for four. This upcoming fall, Baptiste will attend the University of Virginia to study biology.

Kaity Lucero has participated in Midlothian’s Varsity Soccer program during her three years at Midlo. Next fall, Lucero will attend John Tyler Community College, where she will study to become a nurse.

Jessica Acosta-Lopez has played with the Midlothian Soccer Program for four years and has been on Varsity for two. Next fall, Acosta-Lopez will study at John Tyler Community College.

Men’s Soccer, Class of 2019

Bogue Cummings has played on the Midlothian Boys Varsity Soccer Team during his four years at Midlothian. In the fall, Cummings will continue his soccer career at Randolph-Macon College, but has not yet decided his major.

Davis West is another member of the Midlothian Boys Varsity Soccer Team who has played for the Trojans during all four years. Next fall, West will continue his athletic journey at Virginia Military Institute, where he intends to study business.

Carter Averette has played on the Midlothian Varsity Soccer Team all four years during his time as a Trojan. This upcoming fall, Averette will continue his soccer journey at the University of Lynchburg, where he intends to major in data science and statistics.

Smith McGuire has been with the Midlothian Varsity Soccer Program for all four years. In the fall of 2019, McGuire will attend John Tyler Community College, where he will study business.

James O’Connell has played with the Midlothian High School Boys Varsity Program during his four years as a Trojan. Next fall, O’Connell will attend James Madison University but is undecided on his major.

Jacob Hendrick has played for the Midlothian Boys Varsity Soccer Team for three years after transferring from Monacan High School. In the fall, Hendrick will attend Virginia Tech to study criminology.

Kyle Kuennen has played for the Midlothian High School Boys Soccer Team for four years. This upcoming fall, Kuennen will attend the University of Virginia to study engineering.

Jake Sanza has played for the Trojan Varsity Soccer Team during his four years at Midlothian High School.  In the fall, Sanza will attend Virginia Tech, where he will study nano-medicine.

Ross Williams has played for the Midlothian Soccer Program for four years, two of those on Varsity.  This fall, Williams will attend Christopher Newport University but has not yet decided his major.

Sammy Varela has played with Midlothian’s Soccer Program for four years, two on Varsity.  This upcoming fall, Varela will attend James Madison University to study sports and recreational management.
