Dancing the Night Away in Hollywood

Midlothian’s Homecoming Dance 2018

Nicole Dudley and Harrison Melton enjoy Homecoming 2018.

On October 6, 2018, students gathered throughout the village of Midlothian and beyond, dressed in their best dresses and suits, to take pictures with friends, family, and dates. At seven o’clock, they then flocked to Midlothian High School for a lively night of dancing and fun at the Hollywood-themed Homecoming dance. As soon as students entered the school, they instantly took in a decor of dangling gold stars, a red carpet, and creative balloons.

The open commons greeted attendees with refreshments and treats, such as brownies and cinnamon rolls, as well as tables and chairs where students could rest. With everyone dressed in their finest, students danced the night away and sang to popular songs, such as La Macarena, Footloose, and Cupid Shuffle. Students of all grades and ages gathered together as one to enjoy this night of fantasies. Even the faculty relished the night, as Senior Erin Babashak commented: “I enjoyed watching the faculty have a good time.”

SCA sponsors Ms. Katharine Goins and Ms. Morgan Hargrave planned the event, which had the highest attendance of any homecoming dance in recent memory. Junior Tamsyn Mckee adds, “I had so much fun with my friends! This was definitely a night to remember.”
