Artists Auction Items to Benefit Art Department

Students Auction Work During Fiddler on the Roof

Freshman Trinity Hicks’s Pencil and Marker sketch was put up for auction.

On May 10-12, 2018, the Midlothian High School Art Department held its first art auction during the Midlothian High School production of Fiddler on the Roof, raising around $300 for the department by selling 23 pieces of art. One of Mrs. Kristen Joswick’s students, Kolton Almany, along with some of his friends, came up with the idea to support the art department. The event ran smoothly with the musical because it was an easy way to draw people in before the show, while in line, and during intermission. Students from throughout the school donated artwork created during their art classes.

Students also donated their time by setting up the displays and assisting during the three nights during the auction. On May 17th and 18th, selected students helped collect money for the artwork as the buyers arrived to pick up their chosen pieces. The successful auction highlights the quality artwork coming out of Midlo’s Art Department, and the funds generated will help continue that trend in the future.
