Rachael Ladiner Earns Gold Key Award

Rachael Ladiner earned a National Gold Key award for her piece titled, Linear Explosion.

Midlothian High School is known for its exceptional art programs. Junior Rachael Ladiner recently received a National Gold Key award for her art piece entitled,  Linear Explosion.  The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards recognize students with extraordinary artistic abilities and talent.  National medalists, such as Ladiner and Midlo sophomore Paul Miller, who earned a silver key, are recognized at the National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Midlo Scoop recently caught up with Rachael Ladiner to discuss her award.

How long have you taken art?  

Since middle school.

Why do you take it?

I love it.

Did you start learning art/photo on your own, or have you always been taught in a classroom?

I was originally self taught but improved in school.

What does winning this key mean to you?

I will get to further my art future.

What was your inspiration for Linear Explosion?

My math class because my piece is geometric.
