“Our goal is States,” exclaims Mary Hettinger, a sophomore on the Midlothian High School Girls Varsity Volleyball team.  After setting this goal early in the season, the Trojans have worked hard to reach it.  With an 18-5 season, they achieved this task and are on their way to the post-season playoffs.  The first game of the season was on November 2, 2017, as the Trojans took on the Indians from Powhatan High School.

With the first game of the post-season playoffs underway, the Trojans need to play cohesively in order to reach their goal.  Several players worked together to beat the Indian defense; Jessica Sullivan and Abbi Leeper created several plays to give the Trojans a steady advantage.  At the end of the first set, the Trojans won 25 to 19, giving them a 1-0 lead.  Throughout the second set, the Trojan players dominated the court and showed their skill.  After the final set, the Trojans took home a 3 to 1 victory and continued their road to States.

After the Trojans defeated Powhatan, they traveled to Fredericksburg, VA to face Chancellor.  They beat the Chargers 3 to 2 and went on the face the Hawks from Hanover High School.  Finally, they faced the Jamestown High School Eagles and fell 3 to 0.
