Thought to have started in April, most Americans did not take notice of the vast wildfires happening in Canada until residents of New York City noticed a sky that was filled with foggy yellow orange smoke. In April Canada saw its worst fire season ever with blazes ravaging much of the county and creating the hazardous smoky conditions seen in New York and D.C. as well as across Canada itself. The unhealthy haze that blanketed the sky prompted many residents of New York and Washington D.C. to stay indoors. What started these unmanageable wildfires in Canada? Many experts believe the wildfires to have been caused by with lighting or accidentally by human activity. The wildfires that happened in April displaced more than 30,000 people from their homes and helped to shut down oil and gas production. Currently to help Canada fight this ongoing battle they are receiving international help from other countries such as South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and more. Many countries are also helping to contribute to the cause by sending over more first responders and firefighters to Canada.
