Introducing Midlo’s new IB Coordinator and Dean of Students
Midlo welcomes Stuart Jones and Danielle Brown
Midlothian High school welcomed two new administrators into the building for the 2021-22 school year. Both have assumed important roles in the Midlo community with Mr. Stuart Jones as the IB Coordinator and Ms. Danielle Brown as the Dean of Students.
Ms. Brown is the new Dean of Students for the 2021-22 school year. She graduated from James Madison University with a B.S. in Mathematics and then went on to receive a M.Ed in Educational Leadership and Political Studies. Before arriving at Midlothian High School, Brown taught at Boushall Middle School and JR Tucker High School as a math teacher for five years. Inspired by the idea of helping others, Brown hopes to translate her love for teaching into working with students to the Midlo community.
Hobbies: Gardening and walking her chihuahua
The Midlothian International Baccalaureate community welcomed Mr. Jones as the new IB Coordinator. Jones received a B. A. from the University of Mary Washington and an M.Ed. from Old Dominion University. He began his teaching career at Churchland High School. Four years later, he moved to Norfolk and taught for fourteen years at Granby High School, an IB World School where he taught AP Government.
Jones was then promoted to the position of IB Coordinator at King’s Fork High School in Suffolk. There, he taught IB Psychology while also serving as the Theory of Knowledge teacher and the Supervisor for Advanced Instruction for Suffolk County Public Schools. Watching students develop through the IB Program is something that inspires Jones and acts as his drive for teaching.
Hobbies: Spending time outdoors, camping, hiking, and playing sports.
