Mr. Steele Goes to the Masters

Mr. Steele poses with his Masters merchandise.

On April 6th, Mr. Patrick Steele went to the Masters. One of his friends won four tickets in the lottery system to go to the Augusta, Georgia, event for the practice round on April 6th. The Masters is one of the four biggest golf tours of the year and is shrouded in tradition and etiquette. Last year, 22 year old Jordan Spieth won the Masters and looked to repeat this year.

As Mr. Steele arrived in Augusta, Georgia, he remembers a beautiful day, with 75 degree temperatures and sunny skies. During the practice round, he followed around the top golfers and watched as they prepared to tee off. He even got to see legends like Jack Nicholson, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. As Mr. Steele walked through the golf course, he saw Bucknell Cabin, the beautiful cabin where some of the players stay overnight and the winner conducts his official interview after the final round.

After Mr. Steele left, the first round of the playoffs began. Jordan Spieth came out with a clear lead, scoring a 66 in the first round. During the second round, the rest of the pack fell behind with nobody scoring below a 70. On third round, the scores slightly improved, with Dustin Johnson scoring a 71 topping the rest of the field. On the final round, Speith blew his three stroke lead by shooting a 73. The winner, Danny Willett, shot a three under par, stealing the lead from Speith and winning his first green jacket. Mr. Steele enjoyed the experience of a lifetime and came home with the merchandise to prove it.
