Junior Christian Chambers verbally commits to play baseball at JMU.

Throughout the years, Midlothian has produced a great amount of athletes that have gone on to play their sport at the collegiate level.  On October 14, 2018, junior baseball and football player Christian Chambers announced his commitment to pursue his baseball career at James Madison University. Chambers looks forward to being a Duke and playing the sport he loves for the school he loves.

Chambers began playing baseball at the young age of 4 after watching his dad, the current head coach, play.  He explains, “I had signed up for a sports camp at Collegiate Private School, and baseball was one of the sports they offered, and I loved it.” After starting out playing with his father, Chambers accelerated quickly and now plays with the elite travel team, Evoshield Canes. Although he started playing baseball at Monacan High School during his freshman year, Chambers transferred to Midlothian when he found out his father would be Midlothian’s new baseball head coach. “Christian is a really hard worker,” says senior teammate, Tommy Pasquarella.

While at Monacan, the James Madison coaches spotted Chambers, and the conversation evolved.  After many phone calls and visits with the coaches and the team, Chambers realized he wanted to spend the next four years of his life in Harrisonburg. “I have always wanted to play college baseball, and I’m glad that I can do that now,” says Chambers. After talking with JMU since his freshman year, Chambers eagerly announced his commitment in mid-October. “I am really excited to play at JMU because it is not too far from home, but not too close either, and I really had a connection with the team, coaches, and players,” exclaims Chambers, about his future as a Duke. Chambers is thrilled to begin his collegiate career at James Madison and is excited to head to Harrisonburg in the fall of 2020.
