Trojan Football Commemorates the Class of 2019

Football Senior Night vs. Cosby

Throughout the years, each sport at Midlothian has a unique tradition for Senior Night. The Midlothian High School Varsity Football Team celebrated both seniors and teachers with each senior player giving his jersey to the teacher that has influenced him most during his time at Midlo. “I gave my jersey to Mr. Eliot because he is my favorite teacher in the school,” says senior Brayden Staib.

On Friday, October 19, 2018, the Midlothian Trojans hosted the Cosby Titans for the last home football game of the season. Prior to the start of the game, Midlo honored senior football players, managers, and cheerleaders for their years at Midlothian. After the celebrations, the Varsity Football team geared up for a tough match against Cosby. During the opening drive, the Trojans quickly secured a touchdown by senior Neil Richburg. However, the extra point attempt was blocked by a Cosby defender, making the score 6-0. Then, the Titans made a quick response by scoring a touchdown, changing the score to 7-6, in favor of the Titans. At halftime, the score remained 6-7, with Cosby on top.

During halftime, senior members of the Trojan Marching Band, including Dance Team members, were honored for their time at Midlothian, providing music and spirit at each game. After receiving recognition, the senior Marching Band members joined the Trojanettes on the sidelines at halftime, while performing the signature pom pom dance, which continued through the third quarter of the game.

In the second harlf, junior quarterback Christian Chambers scored Midlothian’s second touchdown for a score of 13-7.   After a dangerous drive by the Titans, senior Brayden Staib picked off the quarterback’s pass and ran the ball into the end zone for a touchdown. With the game 20-7, the Trojans needed to play strong defense in order to secure a win for its seniors. In the winding minutes of the game, quarterback Christian Chambers drove into the end zone, scoring his second touchdown, and a fourth for the Trojans. The game ended 26-7 in favor of the Trojans, giving the football team, cheerleaders, dance team, and marching band seniors a successful last home game.
