First-Year+Teacher+Spotlight

1) When you aren’t teaching, what is your favorite activity to do outside of school?

As a first year teacher, I don’t find myself with a lot of free time, and what free time I do have is mainly consumed by coaching the varsity girls soccer team, which I love. On the weekends, however, I like to relax and be outside.

2) If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be and why?

My whole life, I have always wanted to go to Italy, so if I could, I’d get on a plane and go now or go spend time during the summer.

3) What inspired you to become a teacher?

When I was younger, I started lifeguarding, which turned into teaching swim lessons to little kids, and I realized that I loved teaching and coaching. My favorite subject in school was always World History, so I combined all of my loves and turned it into a career, where I can teach and coach.

4) What is your favorite singer/band?

Honestly, I don’t really have a favorite band or artist, but lately, I have been listening to Florence and the Machine and Keith Urban.

5) What are your favorite sports teams?

I went to school in Michigan, so pretty much everything University of Michigan. I also love the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings, plus the New York Giants because Detroit doesn’t have a decent football team.

6) Who is your favorite author, and what is your favorite book?

I haven’t had a lot of free time lately to read; however, last summer, I was reading a lot of John Green’s books, like Paper Towns and The Fault In Our Stars.
