Lady Trojans Seize the Season

The Midlothian Girls Varsity Basketball team Takes on the 2017 Season

The Lady Trojans prepare a game plan.

The Varsity Girls Basketball team is off to an impressive season with wins over competitive teams, such as Huguenot and James River. After an outstanding 2015 season with four college commits, the team has had high standards to live up to. The team hopes that this year’s strong talent from five varsity returners and four transfer players is enough to lead the team back to the playoffs. Senior transfer Danielle McNeal appreciates the “sensational” welcome she received from the team.

Senior captains Tina Lindenfeld, Mckenna Steele, and Elizabeth Vincent lead the Lady Trojans this year. Lindenfeld notes, “Being a captain has led me to develop leadership skills that will help me while playing in college.” With their final season in full throttle, Midlo seniors are determined to leave their mark. Fighting back tears, Vincent notes, “I’ll miss the bond this team has and the love we have for each other.” The players’ comradery translates through the team, creating an ultimate team dynamic. The Midlothian team’s compassion and trust for fellow teammates has allowed them to become one of the hardest working teams in the state. Senior Mckenna Steele says, “Everyone gets along very well, and luckily, we all have fun on and off the court!”

Midlothian’s annual participation in a summer league gives the team an opportunity to advance their offensive and defensive skills. Getting in off-season reps has allowed Tina Lindenfeld and Nia Lloyd to become the team’s leading scorers this season. All twelve players contribute to the team in a crucial way, playing tough with dedicated hearts in every game. We continue to wish the team the best of luck throughout the rest of their season and post-season games.
