Midlo High ID Program Celebrates Thanksgiving

ID Thanksgiving: (left to right) Sarah Arthur, Amanda Legere, Jordan Thompson, Gabriel Green, Tynekal Avens, Will Perkins, and Sarah Bingham

For the ID program’s PBL project, the students planned a Thanksgiving lunch to make for their families. Members of the class planned the menu,  and each student decided what dish they planned to make for the luncheon. They then researched recipes for their dishes and figured out the necessary ingredients before our field trip to Martin’s, where the students had found all of the ingredients for their dishes. The ID program paid for all the ingredients.

The students took home their ingredients and made their dishes at home with their families. On Thursday, November 17th, everyone brought in their dishes, and the ID program provided the turkey, ham, and drinks. Their families also were invited to join us for the Thanksgiving luncheon.

This PBL project included: math, reading, and life skills. The students, faculty, and parents had a wonderful time getting into the holiday spirit.
