Students gather around a white board and let their creativity flow to decorate it in a way that will represent their club or society.
In the open commons, boards were aligned on the brick columns and spelt out “MIDLO.” It was time for a change in decoration, so they were taken down and student are designing their own boards to showcase the clubs and societies they belong to.
“I was in my National Art Honor Society when they brought the whole idea of doing club paintings meeting up with clubs to help give them ideas,” Gracen Talmadge, 12, said. “I immediately went to Mr Johnson and I was like we are getting a board because I want to do this.”
The project encourages student involvement, allowing club members to work together to create a board that will eventually be displayed.
“I’m enjoying it and I think it’s good team building,” Talmadge said.
The colorful panels will be spotted to those who pass by them during class changes, drawing attention to the various extracurricular opportunities available.
“Many students don’t really have a full understanding of all of the club offering, so I think that having these displayed with some people’s interests will give others a chance to inquire,” S.T.E.M Club sponsor, Douglas Johnson, said.
