A video game series created and released in 2014 by Scott Cawthion titled Five Nights at Freddy’s, has since gained worldwide recognition and popularity. The main initial series consisted of nine video games that took place in a fictional family pizza restaurant titled “Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza” named after the animatronic bear mascot Freddy Fazbear.
In most of the games the player takes the role of a night-time employee, and forced to utilize tools such as security cameras, vents, lights, and doors to attempt to defend themselves from the animatronic characters who have inhabited the location and become hostile at night. The background information to the series is gradually revealed to the player through voice recordings, mini games, and easter eggs hidden throughout the game.
With the type of fan base that the game has acquired over the years. It should not be a shock that movie would be in the works. It was announced in February that Universal Pictures would be picking up the famous franchise, and looked to make a supernatural horror film.
The film is set to follow a troubled man who takes on a security guard job at an abandoned Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. He soon discovers the Pizzaria is inhabited by four animatronic mascots who move around and kill anyone still there after midnight. Quickly the security guard discovers that nothing at Freddy’s is what it seems.
The movie is set to debut October 27 and is promising big things with a budget of 25 million, which has already been made back, with a predicted profit of 200 million on top of that.
