Kylie Bonser named to RTD All-Metro Cross Country team

Senior athlete Kylie Bonser earned a spot on the Richmond Times-Dispatch’s All-Metro Cross Country team.  According to coaches Stan Morgan and Mario Cooper, Bonser has had a massive impact on this team all four years; making it to multiple regional titles and a state title last year.

During the season, Bonser has had a daily workout regimen that changes frequently throughout the months of January and February. This has helped her finished first overall in the 1000 meter run last year while outdoor track competed for states.

“My workout routine is solely a lot of miles,” Bonser said.  “I run around 40 miles a week, with different types of runs. I do long runs, short and fast runs while also doing strength training.”

Because she’s a student athlete, she has had the tough task of balancing her time on the track with her academics since her sixth grade year.

“I try not to waste time when I get home from school,” Bonser said.  “I also make sure that I am paying attention in school at all times so that I don’t have to study that much at home after practice.”

Bonser’s coaches credit her work ethic as the key to her success.

“She is always motivated to perform at a high level at every event,” Stan Morgan said.  “Kylie always finds a way to positively influence this team due to her hard work.”

Bonser has already verbally committed to Virginia Tech for the 2023-24 school year after deciding between five different schools.

“It has always been my goal to become a D1 athlete for any college because of my teammates influencing me. In college, I will be running at Virginia Tech and do Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track,” Bonser Said.
