Over the years, the Midlothian football Program has produced several athletes that have gone on to playing collegiate football. Senior Noah Smith joined these athletes when he verbally committed to continue his academic and athletic journey at Hampden-Sydney College

Smith has played football since his first grade year after being inspired by his father. Even though Smith started playing at such a young age, his love and passion for the game has flourished. Throughout his many years in the sport, Smith has given his effort to the Flat Rock Warriors, Weaver Titans, and the Midlothian Varsity Trojans. “Football has taught me to push past adversity and hard times, and it has given me bonds and friendships that will last me a long time,” reflects Smith on his many years playing the sport he loves.

Smith has been a rock for the Midlothian High School offensive line, supporting players in tough games and always giving his best effort. “Noah is one of the most dedicated teammates I have played with,” stated teammate Brayden Staib about senior commit Noah Smith. Head Football Coach Matthew Hutchings exclaims, “[I] am really proud of how Noah’s work in the weight room transferred to the field, and his commitment has really paid off.”

Smith has always had a passion for football and has dreamed of playing collegiate football since his adolescence; however, this dream was set in high school “when [I] realized [I] wanted to continue football for as long as [I] can” exclaims Smith. After being recruited by several successful football programs at Randolph-Macon College, Christopher Newport University, and Bridgewater College, Smith chose Hampden Sydney for its strong academics, athletic program, great connections, location and the “feeling of home [he] got when [he] visited.” Smith looks forward to meeting new people and getting back on the field. Smith feels excited and anxious for his new journey as a Tiger in the fall of 2019.

On Wednesday, April 17, 2019, Smith signed to Hampden-Sydney College during Midlo Morning in the Midlothian High School auxiliary gym. Coach Hutchings shared his pride about Smith’s leadership skills and his commitment to excel both on and off the field. After Smith’s friends and family watched him sign, Smith admitted, “It was a huge deal to me because my lifelong dream was finally becoming a reality.”

Good luck in Hampden-Sydney Noah Smith.
