Mr. Cheatham Receives December TRT Award

Mr. Parker Passes the Teachers Recognizing Teachers Award to Mr. Cheatham

In December, Mr. Paul Parker passed the Teachers Recognizing Teachers Award to Midlo English teacher, Mr. Daniel Cheatham.

What inspired you to become an English teacher?

I started out at Virginia Tech as a computer engineering student but quickly realized that wasn’t for me, so I took a few more English courses with the professor I had my freshman year, and I ended up loving it. I never thought I’d be a teacher, much less an English teacher, but I’ve never regretted my change in major!

What does Midlothian High School mean to you?

Midlothian has become a place that I think of as a second home. I love the fact that I teach freshmen because I get to keep up with most of them for the next three years that they spend here. Some of my colleagues have become very good friends, too.

What is an interesting fact about yourself that you would like people to know?

I’ve been to more than 50 Dave Matthews Band concerts.

Do you have a hobby? If so, what is it?

I spend most of my free time listening to music, reading about music, or playing music. Sometimes all three.

What is your favorite show/movie?

My favorite show is Arrested Development, and my favorite movie is The Shawshank Redemption.

What is your all-time favorite game or game series?

Final Fantasy, but I haven’t stayed up-to-date with the newer games. I’ve played through Final Fantasy IV, V, VI, and VII a million times, but that’s about where I stopped. Now Zelda, on the other hand, is a series I’ve kept up with.

Congratulations, Mr. Cheatham!
