Mrs. Tully’s classes adopted twin girls for the holiday season.

Each year, Spirit Club works with the Midlothian Counseling Department to identify local families in need. They solicit Christmas wish lists from all of the children in each family and make every effort to grant their requests. Midlo clubs and organizations typically chip in to adopt these children, purchasing everything on their lists.

Mrs. Jackie Tully, a Midlo English teacher, adopts a child each year and encourages her students to help her fulfill the Christmas wishes. This year, Mrs. Tully’s classes undertook the task of shopping for a set of twins. In order to make the process fun, Mrs. Tully had her students vote on names for the girls, since the process is anonymous. After much reflection, her classes chose Bella and Harper and then sought to shower them with gifts. After sending a note to parents as well, Mrs. Tully received an outpouring of support, and the pile of gifts continued to grow.

In total, the twins received: 2 coats, 4 hats, 2 pairs of gloves, 4 cases of diapers, 36 outfits, 2 puppets, 13 toys, 7 stuffed animals, 2 Fisher Price walkers, 11 books, 50 pairs of socks and tights, 14 undershirts/onesies, 10 sets of pajamas, a Taggie pillow, as well as gifts cards. Mrs. Tully found the outpouring of spirit heartwarming, saying, “What a blessing to have such wonderful students and parents! I simply cannot thank them enough. This will be a fantastic Christmas for the family; I am overjoyed.”

Midlo continues its tradition of giving back to the community, always coming together in times of need.
