On Monday evening, June 5, 2017, Richmond Times-Dispatch and Sports Backers hosted a celebration of area student-athletes at the Jefferson Hotel. Midlo lacrosse player Dillon Powell emerged as the male recipient of the Scholar-Athlete of the Year, along with Atlee basketball player Alyse Armentrout as the female winner. Each received scholarships in the amount of $7,500. Powell will attend MIT, and Armentrout will attend the University of Virginia.

Midlo tennis stand-out Grace Clarke, who will also attend the University of Virginia, was named a finalist.

Congratulations, Dillon and Grace, for excelling in your sports, while putting academics first. You’ve made Midlo proud!
