As the sun rises on Mar. 18, the next book in Suzanne Collins’s The Hunger Games series is released; Sunrise on the Reaping.  A local Barnes and Nobles, off of Midlothian Turnpike, hosted a release party for said book. To sign up, participants had to have previously signed up for the event and had the option to pre-order a copy of the book.

The function started at 10 pm with a total of around 14 people. As participants signed in the store workers took note of their names and entered them  into a raffle to win a Sunrise on the Reaping inspired hat. There were different activity stations spread throughout the store. These included favorite character nominations, fan theories, a scavenger hunt, and book trivia.

Around 11: 45 the raffle began. Workers drew names out of a bowl until there was one winner left, paying homage to the reaping ceremony in the books. The hat was then distributed to the winner. 

Then sharply at 12 am, workers called everyone in the store to the front to claim their books. The barnes and noble special edition hardcover came in a beautiful sleeve along with a pin and mini poster. 

As of now, Suzanne Collins has released a couple of audiobook episodes of Sunrise on the Reaping and the movie is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2026.
