The community of Midlo is forever changing for the better, especially with the help of clubs like Girl Power Grants (GPG). This club, meeting once a month in the Closed Commons during MAP 1, aims to create a stronger, more unified, and better environment. By doing service projects and having an annual fundraiser, the GPG Club makes Midlo better from one meeting to the next.
“It builds a community of young women inspiring to better their community.” Alexis Grace Griffon,11, said. Griffon is the two year director of outreach for the club, and enjoys the desire to better the community that so many members of the club also enjoy.
Community and outreach is one of the main facets of the nonprofit organization, striving to change the environment for the better. This club has impacted not only the students, but some of the teachers at the school as well.
“I love that it brings together so many young women at our school for a greater cause,” Club sponsor, Brooke Hoke, said. “I saw students working together at the club meeting the other day that I didn’t know were friends, or knew each other, which is really cool, working together for something bigger than themselves.”
Working together for something bigger than themselves brings the group of girls together, especially when they work together to raise funds for the Big Give at the end of the year.
