The Book Club had their second meeting of the year on Wednesday September 11, during MAP. Book Club is open to anyone and everyone from all grades and reading levels. “Don’t we want to surround ourselves with the people who enjoy doing the same things we want to do?” librarian, Heather Murfee, said. “And of course reading, and exploring new genres.”
When asked why the sponsors started Book Club, English Teacher, Stephenie Simpson said “It’s really refreshing to be able to have conversations with students that are like genuinely in love with books and get to share that with them.”
Every month, Book Club picks a new genre to select books from which the students recommend themselves. “One of the upsides for me is I get to read a lot of things I might not ever pick up by myself,” Murfee said. Book Club meets twice a month on Wednesdays and does a fun book activity and book discussions. Keep calm and read on!
