Mr Johnson prepares to test one of the STEM club rockets.

Students involved in STEM Club created rockets from plastic bottles and launched them on Thursday, Nov. 3.

The participating members found items from the room to try and create a rocket.

“I thought it would be nice to start off STEM Club with this project. We wanted to use resources we have as our club continues to grow,” Douglas Johnson, club sponsor, said.

The project was not just about seeing whose rocket could go the farthest, but seeing how students could use their skill set for the future.

“This club helps me build on engineering. It will help me in the future for a job in engineering,” Sariah Washington, 10, said.

The students spent time designing their rockets and were excited to see them take off.

“It was really awesome to see all of our hard work at the club meetings pay off,” Lana Abed, 11, said.

Students involved in STEM Club are ready to take on their next project.
