Sports Literature will be available to take in the 2021-2022 school year.

Arriving in the 2021-2022 school year, a new elective class will be available for all students interested in English and sports: Sports Literature. Taught by Ms. Emily Pfund, the new course offered to all sophomores, juniors and seniors does not require pre-requisite classes of any kind, unlike other English electives, such as Journalism and Yearbook. What makes this new elective stand out from all the rest is that the course takes the complex structures of diverse writing styles and infuses them into the world of sports, which include soccer, lacrosse, basketball, football, swimming and more. The class mainly focuses on how different sports are portrayed in various types of literature, a unique concept that has not yet been implemented into a Midlo class before. Although many Midlo athletes have shared their enthusiasm about the upcoming course, “You do not have to be an athlete to yourself to take this course – just someone who enjoys watching, reading about, and writing about sports. Since this is the first year of this course here, this class will be able to help shape it and decide which topics we cover. I’m very excited to teach it, and I think it’s going to be a lot of fun,” Pfund said.

For those interested in learning more about the new course offered during the upcoming school year, email your designated school counselor or Ms. Emily Pfund for more details. All contact and course information can be found within the Scheduling Central tab on Midlo’s Virtual Learning Hub.
