Midlo Forensics & Debate competitors show off their awards.

On Saturday, January 19, 2019, the Midlothian High Forensics and Debate team excelled in its latest invitational of the season. Bringing home a win at Cosby High School Invitational was a daunting task, as Midlothian faced teams from as far away as King George. Still, the team did not disappoint and brought home multiple trophies. Despite tough competition in both speech and debate categories from some of the best schools in the state, Midlothian still scored well in many areas.

Through hard work and dedication, Kat Moser and Savannah Smith scored 3rd place in novice public forum debate. Forensics officers Quentin Phillips and Courtney Galligher achieved 1st place in extemporaneous speaking and 2nd place in prose interpretation, respectively. Makayley Crisp received 4th place in impromptu speaking.

Overall, the Cosby High Invitational proved a huge success for Midlothian High. The final competition for Forensics team members before varsity competitions start will be on February 2nd at Clover Hill High School. After that, Midlothian’s most talented forensics competitors will travel to Chancellor High School on February 12th for Varsity Speech Regionals.
