Putting Smiles on Little Faces
Homework Helpers Easter Egg Hunt
On Wednesday, March 23, Homework Helpers celebrated Easter by having its annual Easter Egg Hunt. The tutors excitedly greeted their kids and prepared them for the fun celebration they were about to experience. Immediately after the kids arrived, all students and tutors participated in the highly anticipated Easter Egg Hunt. Event organizer Mrs. Ginger Pridgen and the other volunteers spent the entire day filling the plastic eggs with treats for the kids. After the tutors got out of school, they arrived at Mrs. Pridgen’s house to help hide all 1,400 eggs for the hunt. The hunt can get quite competitive since most of the eggs hold prizes inside.
At one table, Mrs. Pridgen had an egg dying station set up, where the kids dyed their two eggs one of five colors. The next table was covered with face paint, where the kids and the tutors had fun decorating each other’s faces. The kids made an Easter-themed picture frame, and in the frame, they put a picture of themselves with their tutor. One of the most popular stations was the cupcake decorating table. Both the tutors and students enjoyed taking a break from homework and having a little fun in the sun before Spring Break. After everyone completed all of the crafts and activities, the bunny hop race began, spreading smiles across the faces of all the kids. When asked about her favorite part of the Easter Egg Hunt, Molly Fletcher chose painting her kid’s face.
If you are interested in participating in Homework Helpers next year, applications for the 2016-2017 school year will be available in the main office after Spring Break. If you have any questions, you can reach Mrs. Pridgen at [email protected].
