On TikTok, a viral sound stating “F students are the inventors” is used in videos of students destroying their school computers. The main trend is lead being placed in the battery compartments of Chromebooks, supposedly to “make them run faster.” Naturally, this has no effect except to ruin the devices and send the tech department into a manic.
This behavior is being dubbed the “F Student Trend,” a successor to 2021’s infamous Devious Lick trend, where students stole everything from soap dispensers to stall doors. But where Devious Lick was about theft and chaos, F Student is about performance sabotage
Some students claim it’s a form of protest against outdated tech and relentless testing. Others just think it’s funny. Either way, it’s spreading. Teachers now watch nervously as students walk into class with their Chromebook chargers and lead.
With each new upload, the trend mutates. There’s now a subgenre called Ctrl+Alt+Delinquent, featuring musical montages of students faking error screens or pretending to “overclock” their school calculators using microwaves.
With the school year coming to an end, destruction is happening throughout the school.
