On Apr. 1, 2025, the cast of the Beatles biopic movies was released. The biopics will star Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Bary Keoghan as Ringo Star, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison. Director, Sam Mendes, has tried for years to produce movies for the band. He confirmed the creation of four movies, one for each band member, and each film will be released in Apr. 2028.
Unfortunately, this announcement has sparked controversy, with many fans upset by the chosen cast members. Fans have stated that the chosen actors do not resemble their characters and were only cast due to their recent surge in popularity. Another complaint that has become apparent is that Mescal and Kheoghan are from Ireland, not Britain, like the actual band members. Some fans have even gone as far as to complain that the four actors should be from Liverpool, which is where the Fab Four are from.
Continuously, many fans on the internet believed that the announcement was a prank at first. This was mainly due to the timing of the news, which occurred on April Fool’s Day. However, some claimed it was just too “ridiculous” of a cast to be legitimate. Regardless of speculation, many news outlets and public statements from the actors and director prove these plans are genuine.
