The National Spanish Honor Society induction took place on Fri., Mar. 21, at 9:15 am. The actual induction ceremony took place in the auditorium, while the after party took place in the library. Prior to the ceremony, each student who was being inducted was told to grab a candle and return to their seat. The ceremony started off by sponsor and Spanish Teacher, Travis Spencer, announcing to the parents and participants. Then, she turned it over to the officers of the society to conduct the rest of the ceremony. The officers read off of the program and introduced the purpose of the honors society. Everybody was then instructed to read a Spanish poem out loud together. After the poem reading, the club officers called out each student’s name to come up on stage and light their candle from the mother candle. Once everybody’s candle was lit and they were all lined up on stage, the club officers instructed them to say a chant and then blow out their candle. This was the initiation process, and the blowing out of the candles signified their entry to the society. After this, each inductee was able to sign their name in the Spanish honor society book to solidify their place in the society. Once the actual induction was over, all inductees and their parents were invited to come back to the library to celebrate and indulge in cake.
