The Debate Club attended their Regional Tournament hosted by Clover Hill High School on Sat. Mar. 8. They sent 12 of their team members to compete, having at least one entry per category. “I was very glad to attend regionals,” Cormac Hogan, 10, said. “We had a last minute situation, so I had to switch categories right before we started, but it ended up being fine.”
Varsity Public Forum team, Emma Springvloed, 10, and Hogan ended up placing 2nd in their category, securing their attendance at Super Regionals. Along with them, Mira Farhat. 10, received 3rd place and all Congress participants placed high enough to advance as well. Sadly, Novice Public Forum team, Josh Reynolds, 10, and Kaden O’Donnell, 10, were not able to advance to Supers. “I think we probably could have prepared a little more, but we were only like one point away from qualifying,” Reynolds said. “It was mostly because of this one judge who gave low scores.”
Due to the team’s excellent performance, Midlo was able to secure 2nd place overall. Each member worked incredibly hard and gave this competition their all. The team has already begun preparation for Super Regionals which will take place on Mar. 22.
