Aloha, Freshmen!

Freshman Class Orientation

Midlo Sidekicks kicked off  the new school year by giving a loud and warm welcome to the incoming Class of 2020 at the annual Freshman Orientation. The students decked the halls and open commons with tropical-themed decorations to help show off Midlo’s pride. Assistant Principal Denise Bowes prepared the selected group of sidekicks to put forth one of Midlo’s best orientations to date.

As soon as the new students and their families arrived, the sidekicks presented them with Hawaiian leis and loud cheers in order to get them excited for the events to come. As the Class of 2020 began filled the auditorium, the sidekicks prepared themselves to run down the aisles and give a customary Midlo welcome. Principal Shawn Abel opened the orientation by greeting the new faces and giving them the run-down of our outstanding school. While the students attended the assembly, the sidekicks snuck off to prepare to take the eager freshmen on a school tour.

Two sidekicks led each of the tour groups and genuinely helped the freshmen better learn the school’s layout, offering tips throughout the tour. Senior tour guide, Blair Rossi, said, “It’s super-fun showing the new kids all the great things Midlo has to offer; it truly is an unforgettable experience.” While the tours carried on throughout the building, parents paid fees in order to prepare their children for the upcoming school year.  After the tours ended, the freshmen gathered for an Ice Cream Social in the Open Commons, which gave the new Trojans a chance to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones. Overall, Midlo once again showed how well the students and faculty can collaborate in order to reach a common goal- to welcome the members of the Class of 2020 to the Midlo Family in style.
