Our forensic speech and debate team had a busy Spring Break, competing in two VHSL tournaments:

On March 26, 2016, the Debate squad competed in the VHSL Region 4A East tournament at Louisa County High School, and the following students placed in their events and now advance to the State tournament at Liberty:

Bethany Crisp – 4th place, Lincoln–Douglas debate
Jack Stid – 3rd place, public forum debate
Palmer Ward – 3rd place, public forum debate

Additionally, Joitree Alam, Mariha Junaid, and Charles Miller are the region’s alternates in their events and will compete at states if called up.

On April 2, 2016, the Forensics squad competed in the VHSL State tournament at Clover Hill High School, and the following students placed in their events:
Bethany Crisp – 3rd place, extemporaneous speaking
Michael DeMatteo – 3rd place, impromptu speaking

Finally, Bethany Crisp will compete in Lincoln–Douglas debate at the NSDA (National Speech and Debate Association) District tournament April 15–16 for a chance to compete at the national tournament in Salt Lake City later this year.
